INTRODUCTION TO TECHNOLOGY & COMPUTER SUPPORT

Length/Credit:
One Year, Two hour block
1 credit per semester
Prerequisite:
None, Open to 11-12 grade
Location:
Offered at the CTE Academy only
The curriculum would include classroom instruction, student projects in a lab format and “real life” field experiences. The classroom and lab instruction would be directed by a certified teacher and\or a current computer specialist in the SF School District. The field experiences will be under the direction of the CTE instructor working in coordination with the Building Computer Specialists (BCS) within the District. The field experiences would require students to assist with the service requests at each building. Topics of instruction include: Careers in the Information Technology field, troubleshooting and repair of computers, setup and software installation, general computer support, computer servers and networks, and systems management.

ADVANCED COMPUTER SUPPORT & NETWORKING

One Year, Two hour block
1 credit per semester
Prerequisite:
Intro to Technology & Computer Support
Open to 11-12 grade
Location:
Offered at the CTE Academy only
Important Information:
Pre-requisites to enrollment and continuation in the program would be a grade of “B” or higher in the
first course and teacher recommendation.
The course will include additional classroom & lab activities and projects; in addition to a substantial portion of the course working directly with BCS’s and network specialists in the District. Students would spend more time in their home high school or an assigned building working on current technology problems, issues, and service requests. A block of time may be designated as field experience or designated days could be assigned for the student each week.
