COMPUTER HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

Students will have the opportunity to learn about computer technology inside of a safe, hands-on, lab format. Topics covered will include computer assembly and disassembly, troubleshooting, repairs, operating system installation, and peripheral device support. Advanced topics will include operating system optimization and networking.

NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES

Students will work in this lab based course to better understand the field of Information Technology. Upon completion of the course, students will be prepared to take the CompTIA A+ certification exams. Topics covered in this course will include advanced troubleshooting, setting up a computer network, supporting networking devices, establishing network securities, and supporting mobile devices.

CYBERSECURITY

CyberSecurity will explore the field of computer security. It covers fundamental issues and first principles of security and information assurance. The course will look at the security policies, models and mechanisms related to confidentiality, integrity, authentication, identification, and availability issues related to information and information systems. Other topics covered include basics of cryptography (e.g., digital signatures) and network security (e.g., intrusion detection and prevention), risk management, security assurance and secure design principles, as well as e-commerce security. Issues such as organizational security policy, legal and ethical issues in security, standards and methodologies for security evaluation and certification will also be covered.
